Our Project

Catherine and Stéphane, owners of Jardin de Gassiot
Looking for another life

In the family since 1942, this house is where Catherine's grandparents took refuge when they fled the war from Luxembourg. It has undergone many changes over the years, but is still as beautiful as ever.

We had always planned to retire there and transform it in sustainable housing. But life does not really care for plans...

When Stéphane's company went through a merger, he seized the opportunity... and they both left their careers in Paris to start a 2-year journey of renovating the house in Saint-Quentin-de-Baron.

Rethinking everything

The family home is refurbished, with sustainibility in mind:

  • Second-hand furniture brought up to date

  • Swimming pool with UV and salt filtration

  • Water recovery tanks for laundry and garden watering

  • Composter

  • Chicken coop

  • Manufacturing of all zero waste accessories for our guests (wipes, beewrap, etc.)

  • Japanese toilets

  • Water flow regulators

  • A plant wall

There was some heavy-lifting too, such as reinsulating the whole house. Finding zero waste suppliers, and sourcing materials with the lightest carbon footprint for every aspect of the job, was not an easy fit either.

The journey

Discover, room by room, the work achieved and the challenges that our couple had to overcome!
